Description

Domaine Paul Prieur is located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation in the Loire Valley. The family estate has been managed by Luc Prieur since 2012, representing the 11th generation. The 14.5-hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is concentrated on the limestone terroirs of Verdigny and Chavignol (Caillottes and Terres Blanches), as well as on the Silex terroirs of the village of Thauvenay. The red wines come from the 5-hectare lieu-dit "Les Pichons", planted in mass selection in the 1950s. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2022 .

After several years of reflection and with 2021 as the first base vintage, Luc Prieur decided to evolve the style of the domaine’s classic Sancerre Rosé. He wanted to produce a fresh and balanced wine, while avoiding the simpler, candied style that Pinot Noir Rosé often displays after a short aging period and rapid bottling.

Luc preferred the vinous style that their rosé achieved after a couple years in bottle, but also wanted to maintain freshness. With this Rosé Perpétuel, the goal is to balance these two elements and produce a singular wine that is complex even in its youth but with the potential to age as well.
